Pokemon Red, Yellow and Blue coming to Nintendo eShop in February 2016

Breaking news: Pokemon Red, Yellow and Blue are being released for the 3DS in February 2016!

Unknown

European Release date (includes UK): 27th February 2016.

These games will not be remakes and will remain as they were upon initial release, however, adjustments have been made so that 3DS trading is possible. The Pokemon Bank feature is not expected to be feasible, nor is importing/exporting from other games. The good news is the lack of the internal battery save features means you will not suffer permanent loss of data at any point. The game will use the regular 3DS save feature.

Here’s to the upcoming nostalgia!

TOMpacasso Preorder now Available!

CSbRU78WsAAls8m

You’ve heard of Alpacasso, now it’s time for you to meet TOMpacasso! he’s one of the upcoming releases this winter in the Alpacasso range made especially for Tokyo Otaku Mode!

TOMpacasso features in the rainbow range, however his colours are much more vivid and mimic those that signify TOM itself! He is currently available for preorder with the release date of December 2015, just in time for Christmas! however, due to shipping restrictions and festive postal delays you may not actually receive him in time, this is something you should contact TOM about if you choose to make this purchase.

He currently retails for $20.99 which is £13.63 (a huge discount compared to many other retailers) however shipping is calculated based upon the use of EMS or SAL depending on where you live. Before you purchase you should check which one your country accepts as there are restrictions on these types of postage (tracked). Shipping to the UK takes approximately 7-14 working days with 1-2 days dispatch time. You should check with the seller when you purchase how long delivery may take. Unfortunately there are some countries this item cannot be shipped to (such as Japan) under copyright restriction laws.

For those of you who may not know, Tokyo Otaku Mode is one of the biggest retailers of Alpacasso products shipping worldwide (some exclusions apply) and sell only authentic Amuse products as well as clothes, DVDs, figurines and more. They are based in the United States, however some products ship directly from Japan (where Amuse products originate) at affordable prices regardless of where you live.

The Backstory of Alpacasso

Alpacasso, otherwise known as “Arpakasso” originates from Japan from the brand Amuse. These cuddly little Alpacas were originally intended to be prizes for grab machines, however, due to their sudden booming popularity they are now for sale all over the world. Make no mistake, many companies and individuals attempt to replicate this kawaii little creature, however, if it is not made by Amuse it is not an official Alpacasso plush.

Alpacassoofficial

Alpacasso plushes themselves were marketed towards gamers of all ages, however, due to the often expensive import duties and quality of the products, they have rapidly become a highly demanded collectors item in many countries outside Japan. I have previously written an article explaining where you can purchase official Alpacasso products and how to tell if they are real or fake, it might be worth a read if you are interested in starting your own collection or you’ve started and would like more information about the background of your personal plush.

Amuse also makes many other types of plush collectibles such as Korohamu, Loppy Bunny, Feneki Fennec Fox, Gororin Panda, Girly Wooly and Mameshiba Pup to name just a few.

Alpacasso products are sold worldwide and widely available at conventions. It is highly recommended you familiarise yourself with the brand and how to identify a real or a fake before you make a purchase, especially online or from a convention as many sold are counterfeit. These products come in a variety of styles and sizes from gigantic plushes to tiny pom-pom charms, keychains to standard 6 inch plushies and even small bag pouches and slippers.

Amuse have really taken off all over the globe. Tokyo Otaku Mode being one of the main retailers outside of Japan as well as there being other authorised sellers all over the globe.

These toys have actually spread into the music industry with use from Vocaloids in Japan and preaching somewhat dark lyrics about animal torture when translated directly.

Are they worth anything? the short answer is yes! to collectors they often have retail value, however, their sentimental value often outweighs this. Due to them being widely available throughout Japan, they yield slightly less value there than anywhere else. In short, they are much like TY beanie babies and may hold some value in the future. Due to them being less widely available in other countries, Alpacasso products are worth much more money outside of their native region.

Johto Starter Pokemon available via Pokemon Bank for X and Y

The Johto starter Pokemon will be available in their final evolutionary forms via the Pokemon Bank for X and Y.

hajohto

The Pokemon Bank can be downloaded for free from the Nintendo EShop worldwide and is used to transfer Pokemon from Black/White onto your X and Y game carts. This method of importation is much like the dual-slot importing option from Diamond and Pearl.

To receive Typhlosion, Feraligatr and Meganium all you have to do is log onto your Pokemon Bank sometime before the 30th November 2015. In order to do this you must have a copy of Pokemon Black or White (2 inclusive) and have transferred some Pokemon, which you can do at any point. Your Pokemon will then be deposited in your bank ready to be imported to X and Y respectively.

This is available all over the world.

Build-A-Bear Pikachu Event coming to the UK, Europe, Australia and the US in 2016.

Build-A-Bear has announced that they will be offering you the chance to stuff your very own Pikachu with love in their stores throughout Europe, the UK and the United States from 2016.

Unknown-3

Pikachu will not only have his/her own selection of clothing such as a Pokeball hoodie and a Charizard costume (much like the 2015 releases of the Pikachu plush wearing the dragon capes including Charizard), you will also have the opportunity to give your little Pika their very own sound chip!

The plush toys are available both in stores and online, however customers choosing the online retailers will be given their own Pokemon card.

How to tell if an Alpacasso is Real or Fake!

There are many questions circulating the internet about the legitimacy of Alpacas products all over the world. Whilst some are very obvious fakes, others can be much harder to spot. In the picture below the Alpacasso on the left of the screen is fake whereas the one on the right is legitimate.

Kawaii-Arpakasso-Alpacasso-Alpaca-Plush-Toy

So let’s start by going into the backstory of the brand. Official Alpacas products are made in China by the Japanese brand Amuse. Alpacasso “Arpakasso” plush toys are very common all over Japan are were created for the use in grab machines. Now their popularity has boomed and spread outside of Japan, there are official stockists and retailers selling them in various countries around the globe. Alpacasso, however, are not actually that easy to get a hold of and there is actually only a select number of companies able to supply them to the public. These official retailers or sellers are as follows:

  1. Tokyo Otaku Mode – United States with a warehouse in Japan.
  2. Tofu Cute – United Kingdom
  3. Pixie on Storenvy – Korea
  4. KawaiiPlusHLove on eBay and Storenvy – from the USA
  5. Littlest Gift Boutique – Canada
  6. Alpacaloco on Storenvy – Japan
  7. Rosy’s Garden on Storenvy and eBay – ships from Hong Kong.

There are several more, however these are great examples of places you can purchase them from without having to worry about the legitimacy of your products.

So how do we tell if an alpaca plush is the real deal or a knockoff?

  1. Price: Legitimate Alpacasso toys are not cheap. Here in the UK the average price for a large one is £26.99. Cheap toys or ones offered at a “bargain” price, especially from places such as Amazon or eBay are most likely fake. However, don’t be fooled. Some sellers will ship out fake items and charge as much for those as for real ones. Freebies are also to be avoided. Seeing as Alpacasso have to be imported from Japan and are costly, no official retailer will offer a “free” Alpacasso or a BOGOF type of offer as they would be losing a lot of money. Sellers who do this are dealing with fakes.
  2. eBay: This is probably the most risky and untrustworthy places to purchase from. Many sellers use stock images of real plush toys but will ship out bootlegs
  3. The eyes: Real Alpacasso plush toys have quite large rounded eyes placed against or just touching the muzzle (see picture above). Smaller plush toys do have smaller eyes which are  proportionate to their heads. If you see a larger plush (14 inches) with small eyes, spaced widely from the muzzle or unevenly placed- it’s a fake. They should never be made from fabric or stitching.
  4. Tags: Apart from the baby series’ such as Love Berry, almost all other Alpacasso toys will have their tag places on their bottom linked through their fabric tag. These tags always have a bar scan, the official licensing and series tag. Some such as the Sherbet range will have their scan tag around their neck. These tags are a lighter colour than your plush and are quite glossy. Often the large series tag will be bound together so you can’t just open it. The fabric tag should be correct to the series. For example; the Sweet Day Alpacasso large plush toys should be a “Kids Alpacasso” whereas a Rainbow series plush should be a “Rainbow Alpacasso” and a Love Berry a “Baby Alpacasso” if any of the fabric tags do not match the series (e.g. a Rainbow Alpacasso with a tag of Girly or Baby) it is fake. Please look up your series and find out where the official tags are placed. A baby Alpacasso will have his/her tag on the side about 1.5-2 inches from the hind leg whereas almost all other Alpacasso toys will have their fabric tag on their rump. If your plush has a tag through its ear, foot, no fabric tag or any wrong/misspelt/incorrectly placed tags it is a fake. No exceptions.
  5. Quality: Alpacasso official products are of a much higher quality than fakes. Their fur is thicker and does not shed very easily, their eyes are larger and shinier, their stitching is professional, they are quite plump, some more so than others e.g. Sherbet are more plump than Rainbow. Real products are built rounded, full and sweet apart from the Rainbow and Alpaca Hatter series’.
  6. Branding: Alpacasso is ONLY made by the brand Amuse. These toys are made in China but distributed from Japan. If an Alpacasso is made by any other brand, has no brand or sellers are advertising them knitted or made personally, these are not real. If you receive a fake Alpacasso that is labelled as an Amuse product you should report it to wherever you purchased it from and ask for a refund. Selling bootleg items is a criminal offence as well as upsetting to those whom spend their hard earned money on falsely advertised, illegitimate products.

4169 - alpaca plush real_life_fluffies safe toys Every single one of those is a fake!

Please do your research on the series’. Some sellers get away with creating entirely new “series” fake Alpacasso toys such as neon colours, ones wearing clothes or printed alpacas. Certain ones are more commonly faked than others such as the Animal Hats series and the Rainbow series due to popular demand.

Below is a photo of some of my own personal collection of official Alpacasso toys. These toys are all 100% legitimate.

Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 18.45.41 100% Real.

Sweet day (brown and yellow), Sherbet (blue), Bridal (pink) and Love Berry (white).

Tags are a very important issue when it comes to Alpacasso products. Some companies will scan and reprint real tags or use actual real tags. Be very careful as while they’re a very good way to help tell if your product is real or not, they’re not a 100% guarantee. If the tags don’t match the series or are missing their codes – they’re fake. Some sellers are good at replicating. Take a look at these photos I found on Tumblr.

If you’ve purchased an Alpacasso from Amazon or eBay then it’s most likely a fake. Please take the time to look through this list: Official Alpacasso Sellers
